Victoria Cottage at Domaine du Cap

Victoria Cottage is the first cottage to open at Domaine du Cap, a 15-hectare private estate on the Sundays River at the edge of historic Graaff-Reinet, built around the 1806 homestead of the old farm De Erf.

Made for families who like to cook, swim and linger, the cottage has two en-suite bedrooms, each with a bath in the bedroom and its own separate shower room. The family room opens onto a terrace with its own braai, and from there out to a private garden and swimming pool. At its heart is an old Karoo kombuis, a wood-burning open hearth beneath the great kitchen chimney, with a Smeg stove and oven alongside for everyday cooking.

The whole cottage is yours: we never share it, whether you book one bedroom or both. It sleeps up to 4 adults, and up to 2 extra children's beds can be added at R850 per bed per night.

On the estate, walk the olive groves and the river, gather round the boma fire at sunset and enjoy the wide Karoo sky. Graaff-Reinet's historic centre, the Camdeboo National Park and the Valley of Desolation are minutes away, and we can arrange day safaris at our partner reserve, Mount Camdeboo, home to lion, cheetah, white rhino, buffalo, giraffe and Cape mountain zebra.
